Building Coverage Around Your Deductible
One strategy is to select an accident benefit level that aligns with your health insurance deductible.
For example:
If your health insurance deductible is $5,000, you might consider a $5,000 accident medical expense benefit.
If you experience a covered accident, the benefit may help offset medical expenses that would otherwise come out of your own pocket.
This can be especially valuable for athletes who train several times per week or compete regularly.

Many independent contractors, coaches, gym owners, and self-employed athletes either have limited health coverage or no major medical insurance at all.
In that situation, some athletes choose higher accident medical expense limits to provide additional protection against unexpected injuries.
